OpenAI ships GPT-6.1 Sol and partners with Synopsys on chip-design AI model.

OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Sol as an upgrade to GPT-6 Sol, achieving near-Astra performance on agentic coding and computer use at one-fifth of Astra's token prices. Separately, OpenAI and Synopsys announced a partnership to build GPT-Synopsys, a specialized AI model for chip design that operates EDA tools autonomously.

I agree with Dario that we need to pace the frontier. This has been a primary topic of discussions we've had at OpenAI in recent weeks. Committing to having independent evaluators with employee-like access is a great idea, and we will do the same. We'll have more to share soon.
